Mama Lou Parks
Louise "Mama Lu" Parks was a lover of Lindy Hop who went from coat-check girl at the Savoy ballroom to one the key figures in preserving the legacy of the Savoy Ballroom Lindy Hoppers for future generations. She taught many many young kids in Harlem how to do the Lindy Hop. The Mama Lu Parks dancers performd all over the world in many styles (almost always closing with the Lindy Hop) and many still survive to this day. Mama Lu's legacy is hard to overstate as it as through her that many generations of new dancers connected to the Lindy Hop.
