Uptown Swing Privacy Policy

Uptown Swing LLC (“Uptown Swing,” “we,” “us”) runs a Lindy Hop school in Minneapolis and the website uptownswing.net. This policy explains how we handle personal information. For mobile numbers and text consent, also read SMS Privacy. That notice controls if it conflicts with this page on SMS.

1. What we collect
Depending on how you use us, we may have:
Identity and contact: name, email, phone, account login
Class records: bookings, attendance, course progress, credits
Payment records: what you bought and whether it was paid (card details are handled by our payment processor, not stored in full on our teaching site)
Messages you send us
Device and site data that our website platform collects (pages viewed, cookies, approximate location from IP)
Optional marketing-email and operational-SMS choices
We do not require marketing or SMS opt-in to book a class.

2. Why we use it
To run accounts, take bookings, take payment, check you in, email you about classes you booked, send optional marketing email or operational texts if you opted in, improve the site, and keep records we need for the business and the law.

3. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their marketing.
We use service providers to operate:
Website, accounts, and bookings (Wix)
Card payments (Stripe)
Email (including Mailchimp for marketing and Postmark for transactional mail)
Text messages, if you opted in (Twilio)
Accounting, hosting, and similar vendors who only get what they need to do their job
We may also share information if the law requires it, or if we transfer the school as a business (we would expect the buyer to keep treating student data as student data).

4. Cookies and analytics
The site may set cookies and similar tools through Wix and any analytics we enable, so the site works, stays logged in, and so we can see which pages are useful. You can block cookies in your browser; some features may stop working.

5. How long we keep it
We keep class, payment, and account records as long as we need them to teach, to honor credits, and to meet tax and legal duties, then delete or de-identify them when they are no longer needed.

6. Your choices
You can update name, email, phone, and marketing/SMS switches in your profile settings, or email info@uptownswing.net. You can unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in those emails. You can stop operational texts with STOP or the profile switch.
If you are in a place with extra privacy rights (for example access or deletion requests), email us and we will work through what we can do with the tools we have.

7. Children
The site is not aimed at children under 13. A parent or guardian should handle accounts and bookings for minors.

8. Security and other sites
We use vendors who are built for this kind of data, but no internet service is perfectly secure. Links to venues, maps, or social media are their own sites with their own policies.

9. Changes and contact
We may update this policy. The date at the top will change.
