Uptown SwingTerms of Use
Last updated: September 30, 2026

These terms are between you and Uptown Swing LLC (“Uptown Swing,” “we,” “us”), a Minneapolis Lindy Hop school. They cover uptownswing.net, related booking pages, and in-person classes and events we run.
If you have questions, email info@uptownswing.net or call 612-217-1087.

1. The short version
Book a class, show up ready to move, be decent to your partners, and pay for what you booked. We will try to be clear and fair. Dance involves some risk. Venues have house rules. This is not legal advice, and it is not a promise that every class will run exactly as scheduled.

2. Who can use the site
You must be able to form a contract. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should create the account, book, and consent. We welcome students of many ages and experience levels; some courses have curriculum prerequisites described on the site.

3. Accounts
You are responsible for the information on your account (name, email, phone) and for keeping login details to yourself. Tell us if something looks wrong. We may suspend an account that is abusive, fraudulent, or used to interfere with other students.

4. Classes, venues, and partners
Most courses are progressive multi-week series. Missing the first week of Level 1 or Level 2 usually makes the rest harder; that is why we ask you to start on week one.
We teach at rented rooms, including Four Seasons Ballroom (1637 Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55403) and the Center for Performing Arts (3754 Pleasant Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55409). Those buildings are not ours. Follow their rules, including check-in and parking notes we send you.
You do not need a partner to enroll. We rotate in class. Wear clothes you can move in. Do not wear wet, dirty, or marking-sole shoes.

5. Booking and payment
You may prepay online (card, Apple Pay, PayPal, or other methods we offer) or choose pay-in-person where that option is available. We also sell course bundles / credits as described on the site at the time of purchase.
Unless a specific offer says otherwise:
A first-class drop-in (when offered) is only that first session, at the posted trial price.
Prepaid courses are for the dates of that course. If you need to change plans, email us before the first session. We may offer a credit, a transfer, or a refund; after a course has started we generally do not refund unused weeks.
Bundles and credits follow the limits shown at checkout (including how many courses they cover and when they expire).
If we cancel a session, we will try to make it right (make-up, credit, or refund) depending on the situation.

6. Conduct
Be respectful. No harassment, no unsafe leading or following, no recording other students in a way that makes them uncomfortable. We reserve the right to remove someone from class or the community if they make things bad for others.

7. Assumption of risk
Lindy Hop is physical. You may sweat, get sore, lose your balance, or bump into someone. You take part voluntarily and accept those ordinary risks. We are not responsible for lost items or for venue conditions we do not control. This does not limit liability that Minnesota law does not allow us to limit.

8. Photos and video
We sometimes photograph or film class for teaching, the website, or social media. If you do not want to be featured, tell us at check-in or email info@uptownswing.net. We will do our best to honor that; we cannot control what other students capture on their own phones.

9. Website content
Schedules, prices, and copy on the site can change. Don’t scrape the site or misuse accounts. Our name, curriculum descriptions, and class materials are for students of Uptown Swing, not for republishing as your own program.

10. Email and texts
Transactional email (booking receipts, class logistics) is about classes you booked. Marketing email is optional. Operational SMS is optional and is covered by our SMS Terms and SMS Privacy pages. You do not have to opt in to email marketing or SMS to take class.

11. Minnesota law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota. If a piece of this page cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.

12. Changes
We may update these terms. The “Last updated” date will change. Continued use of the site or upcoming classes after a change means you accept the new terms for that later use.
