Our WEDNESDAY night Lindy Hop classes are what you need!

LEVEL 1 - BEGINNER
Our level 1 lessons are progressive, building from week to week (no drop-ins) and we offer two different 4-week series. We alternate between the two from month to month:
Level 1 (6-Count): Starting from zero we work on basic 6-count Lindy Hop (much like East Coast Swing) and learn lots of 6 count moves and technique
Level 1 (8-Count): Starting from zero we build our way up to the swing out, the basic of Lindy Hop with some other moves and breaks along the way.
New students are welcome to start with either the 6-count or 8-count series as they both start from zero, assuming no prior knowledge but students must complete both 6-count and 8-count series before moving on to level 2.
LEVEL 2 - BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE
Our level 2 lessons are also progressive, building from week to week (no drop-ins) and we offer four different 4-week series - Students must have completed Level 1 (6-count and 8-count) before taking Level 2:
Level 2 (Swingout): This series will focus on refining the swingout and adding variations and moves based on the swingout. The swingout is what makes Lindy Hop Lindy Hop so it pays to do it well.
Level 2 (Charleston): We’ll start with basic Charleston technique and build to more and more challenging moves. It will be a sweaty good time.
Level 2 (Mixing 6 & 8): This series focuses on how to switch smoothly between both 6-count and 8-count moves and how to stop worrying about the counts period so you can lead and/or follow better.
Level 2 (The Classics): In this series we will show you some of the classic steps and choreography that make Lindy Hop Lindy Hop.
Students are welcome to begin level 2 lessons with any of the series offered but students must complete all 4 series before moving on to level 3. The series will rotate in order from month to month.
LEVEL 3 - INTERMEDIATE
Our level 3 lessons are also progressive, building from week to week (no drop-ins) and we offer six different 4-week series. Students must have completed all Level 2 series (Swingout, Charleston, Mixing 6 & 8, and Musicality) before taking Level 3.
Level 3 (Variations): This series will give you all sorts of ways to spice up your 6 & 8 count basics. We'll show you lots of classic (and cool) footwork and rhythms to put into your Lindy Hop.
Level 3 (Charleston+): This Charleston session will take you through more challenging figures and patterns. We are going to take your Charleston game to the next level.
Level 3 (Connection): This series will work on your leading and following, your timing, and your overall connection. We want to help you become a dancer that not only looks great, but one who also FEELS great.
Level 3 (Musicality): This series is about the music. How to dance to it better and how to enjoy it more. We’ll show some fun moves and breaks and work on using them to accent the music. The more we listen to the music the better we dance.
Level 3 (Swingout+): This series will be a deeper dive into making your swingout feel great with everybody. We will work on better connection, and different styles to improve your take on Lindy Hop's most important step.
Level 3 (California Routine): We are going to dedicate a month-long series to this classic routine by Whitey's Lindy Hoppers. With more time we will be able to improve the quality AND up the tempo!
Students are welcome to begin level 3 lessons with any of the series offered but students must complete ALL 6 series as well as ALL 4 Solo Jazz series before moving on to level 4. The series will rotate in order from month to month.
LEVEL 4 - INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED
Students must complete ALL 6 series of Level 3 (Variations, Charleston, Connection, Classics, Swingout+, California Routine) and ALL 4 of the Solo Jazz series before joining Level 4.
Levels 4 is a continuous class. Class topics are always changing, and moving up a level is at the teachers’ discretion. Level 4 lessons are for experienced dancers and students must be comfortable and competent with 6-count, 8-count, and Charleston basics and variations. These lessons are not specifically progressive and new material is offered every week.
As part of Level 4 we will also offer a monthly, optional Level 4 Lab on the 1st Tuesday of the month and we will also make available a monthly video challenge for those students looking for more of a challenge and faster progression.
LEVEL 5 - ADVANCED
Level 5 also a continuous class and is our most challenging level and we ask that students talk to (or email) one of our teachers before signing up for this level. We’ll have new material every week and challenges galore.
Solo Jazz is open to students of all levels but is aimed at Levels 2 & 3. Our Solo Jazz lessons are progressive, building from week to week (no drop-ins) and we offer four different 4-week series:
Solo Jazz (Shim Sham & Jitterbug Stroll): In this series we will learn two classic jazz line dances. The Shim Sham is a classic jazz and tap line dance created by Leonard Reed back in 1930. It has been adopted by Lindy Hoppers around the world and popularized and often led at Lindy Hop events by the great Frankie Manning. The Jitterbug Stroll was created during the beginning of the Lindy Hop revival by the great dancer Ryan Francois.
Solo Jazz (Tranky Doo): The Tranky Doo is a classic jazz choreography created by the great Frankie Manning that he added onto and changed over the years. We will take this month to teach you the original and classic version.
Solo Jazz (Uptown Shuffle): This series is dedicated to teaching you our very own Uptown Swing solo jazz dance, created by Peter, the founder of Uptown Swing. Learn this and then you can represent the Uptown Swing crew wherever you go.
Solo Jazz (Classics & Improv): In this series we will round out your knowledge of the classic steps and get you working on improvising and creating on your own and on the fly.
Students must complete at least 2 out of the 4 Solo Jazz series before moving on to level 4. The series will rotate in order from month to month.
LEVEL 4 LAB
Level 4 Lab is specifically for those students who are in level 4 and looking to find the next steps on how to improve their dancing. Because Level 4 is our first level with no set curriculum and hence no set "graduation" time, we will be offering the level 4 lab monthly on the 1st Tuesday for students looking to push themselves to come and get some personal feedback. This will be very much like office hours, but for more time & specifically for level 4 students.
Office Hours is like a mini-private lesson. You show up and put your name on the list and Peter splits the hour between everybody there, giving one-on-one advice and help while the rest of the folks hang out, practice, dance, or whatever they like. If you wanna just come use the space for your own practice - you are welcome to join us for free!
OFFICE HOURS (all levels)
During our Office Hours classes we always make the room available for free practice fro folks who want to show up and have a dance floor and a mirror (and maybe a partner) to work on stuff with. Peter plays the music he needs for Office Hours, but you are welcome to dance around and practice for free, and you can always use headphones if you're working on something specific.
Some weeks we won't have any formal Tuesday class and we'll just have the space available for free practice.

6-count Workout (Levels 1, 2) is where we refine the connection and lead & follow in the basic 6-count steps and if we have time, we'll even throw in a couple new ones.

8-count Workout (Levels 1, 2) is where we refine the connection and lead & follow in the basic 8-count steps and if we have time, we'll even throw in a couple new ones.

Swingout Workout (Levels 1, 2) is where we refine the connection and lead & follow in the swingout itself, the most important step in Lindy Hop.

WORKOUTS (6-count, 8-count, Swingout)
Solo Warm-Up to Fun Music is like Zumba except it's not Zumba. Peter plays a bunch of his favorite jams and keeps you moving and sweating for an hour. He'll break down some things, but generally it's just a sweaty good time. If you've ever joined us for one of our patented warm-ups on Wednesday nights then you know how much fun this is!
SOLO WARM-UP TO FUN MUSIC (all levels)
Solo Charleston is an energetic dance with lots of kicks. Lindy Hop came out of Charleston and Charleston is now part of what makes the Lindy Hop. Come learn some awesome solo steps to this amazing dance!
Solo Jazz Basics (all levels) is where we work on the classic simple steps from back in the swing era. These steps teach you how to move to jazz music from the inside out and they are what you can throw into your Lindy Hop basics to spice things up.
Solo Jazz Routine (Level 3 & 4) is our advanced jazz class where we'll put some simple and some trickier steps together to create a short routine to the music. It's a challenge!
