Stuff you should check out

Here’s some interesting books, videos, and music that you should check out – most of which is now ridiculously easy to find on the onlines.com.

If you are looking for some music for Swing dancing, check out THIS BLOG POST.

Clip of Shorty George Snowden, Frankie’s inspiration and one of the progenitors of the swingout – the basic of our dance.

Great clip of Whitey’s Lindy Hoppers dancing to the music of Duke Ellington.

One of the clips that got things going again for swing dancing in the 1980′s – from the Marx Brothers film, “A Day at the Races.”  Back before the cybernets and the youtubes, even before it was easy to videotape stuff off of the TV, some of our dance elders used to just watch Saturday morning TV for the dance moments in these old movies.

Tops & Wilda – this couple was supposed to be in Hellzapoppin but they ended up having beef with Frankie for missing practice – read Frankie’s book!

There are tons more clips to check out on YouTube of the Lindy Hop.  A great place to check out a lot of old clips is Peter Loggins’s user page:
